Late 20th-century Maitland-Smith chinoiserie bamboo chests with woven bamboo body, lacquered panels and brass hardware. A rare complete set of 3 nested trunks.

Hand-painted scenic detail in gold. Handmade in the Philippines, scenes of pagodas and natural landscapes unfold across the fronts with surprising intricacy and detail preserved almost in it‘s entirety wholly unscathed.

Antique brass hardware, including a classic Chinese lock plate and corner brackets, adds both authenticity and luster. The trunks open to reveal ample storage, making them as functional as they are fabulous!
